If it's Christians you don't like, I get it. I don't like a few of them either. But I'm asking you not to confuse them-or me, or any other flesh & blood - with Jesus. He is in a class all by Himself. Call me crazy but, for the life of me, I can't find a lot not to like about Him. Who else in the entire human experience is incapable of doing you wrong or leaving you stranded or betraying your trust or wasting your time? Who else never recoils at the sight of the real us? Or gets bored with us? Who else never makes a promise He doesn't have the power to keep? Who else can perform a wonder in a wasteland? ~ Beth Moore - Audacious
Who else in the entire human experience is incapable of doing you wrong or leaving you stranded or betraying your trust or wasting your time? - Um, that would be a huge NO other! Not one, not even my hubby, as wonderful as he is. Not even those boys that I had c-sections for. Not even my parents or my brother and sister. Not even my closest sister-friends. We, as sinners, will always do others wrong or leave them stranded, even if we don’t intend to.
Thank you Jesus for never leaving me or forsaking me, even when I deserve exactly that.
~Who else never recoils at the sight of the real us? - I will take that further…..who else truly knows the real us? - Not one person on this planet does. Think of that look you have gotten from someone when they learn your story - your past - your sins….you know the look, the disgust, the judgement - the recoil. You would never get that from Jesus, only love, only forgiveness, only comfort, only kindness, only gentleness, only healing - always. For Jesus to love us and want us to be in eternity with Him forever, even though He knows the real us…..that is something I can’t wrap my mind around. But praise Jesus, He does!!
~Who never gets bored with us? - Or annoyed with us? Goodness, I would venture a guess that He laughs at me, a lot! He is always interested in us and everything going on in our little world. No matter how big or small, He cares…..if it matters to us, it matters to Him! It took me a long long time to "get that" - God cares about my headache, that test my wee one has today, the sadness I feel from hurt feelings, the project I am working on for work, the dinner I am making for my family. God is all up in some details and all in our lives, all we have to do is look and listen! The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. - Zephaniah 3:17 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. - Psalms 149:4 When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. - Psalms 94:19 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7 ~Who else never makes a promise He doesn't have the power to keep? - Is there even one person in your life that has never broken a promise to you? I can’t name anyone that hasn’t. As the human kind, we are born sinners and completely selfish, we may not mean to break that promise, but we do. Thank you Jesus for Grace!
~Who else can perform a wonder in a wasteland? - I can tell you from personal experience, no one else can perform a wonder in a wasteland, and boy was I a rotten, horrible, miserable wasteland! Only God could change me from the inside out. Only God would never leave me or forsake me. Only God could set this girl on fire for Him! Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. - Jeremiah 32:17 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. - Luke 19:10 Sweet friends.....no one - NOT NO ONE can love you like Jesus does! If you don't know Jesus and have not received His offer of Eternity with Him, I would love to introduce you to Him!! And this is the promise that he made to us ~ eternal life. - 1 John 2:25
