OH how I love music!!! L O V E! Thank you, Lord for 80's Big Hair Bands, Def Leppard, Adam Levine and so many others!! Music, especially praise songs, speak so deeply to me. I hear myself in every song. Is it just me? Do you too? I get so into the song that I close my eyes when I am driving and raise my hands in praise….that probably isn’t a good thing while I am driving. The Jeep Wrangler Coliseum is always rockin! If you are in my vehicle, I will sing for you.....I especially love those friends that will sing with me! I am certain I missed my calling to be a Rock Star! My boys would disagree for sure - I get *those* looks when I sing around them, especially in public! I tell them all the time, the praise band at church could let me get up there and just turn off the microphone. Ha! Music - it is good for the soul! I don’t know about you, but I will become completely eat-up with a song and listen to it a million times. My current song obsession is My Story, by Big Daddy Weave. I am very certain this song was written just for me. When I heard it the first time, I was on my way to work - tears flowed! I listened to it all day and cried some more. Could not wait to get home so I could listen really loud, hold my hands high and ball like a baby - Ball I did!
Here are the words….read them slow, take them in - the goodness and heaviness of them.
If I told you my story - You would hear hope that wouldn't let go
If I told you my story - You would hear love that never gave up
If I told you my story - You would hear life but it wasn't mine
If I should speak then let it be
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
To tell you my story is to tell of Him
If I told you my story - You would hear victory over the enemy
If told you my story - You would hear freedom that was won for me
If I told you my story - You would hear life overcome the grave
This is my story this is my song praising my Savior all the day long
Read it again. The part that moves me the most is “Of the grace that is greater than all my sin.”
Marinate on those words.
God’s grace is greater than ALL my sin! - God’s grace is greater than ALL your sin!
It doesn’t matter what you have done....it doesn't matter.....if you ask him, HE WILL forgive you - He will cover you in His grace.
From Wikipedia - Grace has been defined, not as a created substance of any kind, but as the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it, the condescension or benevolence shown by God toward the human race. It is understood by Christians to be a spontaneous gift from God to man – generous, free and totally unexpected and undeserved – that takes the form of divine favor, love, clemency, and a share in the divine life of God.
Who wouldn’t want to be covered in God’s grace??
