So many awesome versions of this verse - let's dig in and I pray this will take root with each of us.
Another "I will" promise from God. The NLT says - "The Lord says," - What does the Lord say?
I will guide you - I will instruct you - I will teach you - I will show you.
Guide, instruct, teach and show me what?
The best path for your life.
The way to go.
The way you should go.
What else is God saying?
I will advise you - I will watch over you - I will give counsel.
I especially love the AMP version -
I will instruct you and teach you in the way that you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Let's back up and set the stage here - Psalm 32 was written by David and is titled "The Joy of Forgiveness" - the previous verses tell of the restoration of fellowship and who knows better about broken and restored fellowship with the Lord than David?
I wonder what David must have been thinking as he wrote "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life"? Was he like me thinking.....I really screwed that up. - I sure took the wrong long road. - Why wasn't I willing? - Why didn't I listen?
I seriously can't wait to chat with David when I get Home!
Doesn't this verse beg the question - what is the best pathway?
Well, God's pathway of course - God's Word tells us that His plans for us are good and it tells us how very much He loves us - so yes, His pathway is the best.
His plan is the only one that can bring life, healing, and joy!
God already knows everyone's path even before we decide to take it.
As I walk my path, the Lord is reassuring me, educating me and is always right beside me.
Isn't it great that we don't have to figure out the best pathway on our own? God says I WILL guide you, show you, instruct you, advise you, counsel you.
Guide = to show the way.
Advise = recommend, inform.
Instruct = teach, show, explain
Counsel = advise (wise counsel)
We don't all start off on the right path because of fear. That small amount of fear we hold in the back of our minds because we already see what could go wrong. - But what is there to fear when the Lord has specifically brought you to where you are now?
You who are willing - How few are willing.....caught up in their own knowing and arrogance.
We are called to spiritual maturity!
Once redeemed, the man of faith must choose to walk by faith and to live by faith.
You might be saying - I want to do this, I just don't know how to. - The best thing I can tell you is that all of the answers you will ever need are in God's Word - wrap what you learn from God's Word in prayer and have all the faith in the world, then you will go down the best pathway.
Look to God for everything, in all situations.
God has clear sight and discernment - I do not!
I am caught by how kind, loving and intimate this is and also the tremendous patience that God has for His children. I can't help but think of a little child being held by the hand by their parent or a blind person holding the arm of someone guiding them along.
God longs to guide us with love and wisdom. Just like a good parent - He's a good good Father!
"with My loving eye on you."
God's eye is fixed on me, on you!
God is always with us and watching over us!
Let God guide you step by step.
Are you willing?
